Writing

So, I have not been writing much poetry at all for a very long time (life, work, focusing on novels, what have you), but a month or so ago, as Jeff and I were making the long drive down to the Flying M (which finally sold, hallelujah!), I mentioned a story idea that I'd had for years that always came back to me on long drives and that I'd never been able to actually write because it always seemed to be missing something. As I thought more about it, I realized that maybe the problem was that it wanted to be a poem and not a short story. Once I had that epiphany, I was able to start it on the road and finish it over the course of the next few days.

Well, "Mile Marker 237" sold to the first market I sent it to and is now available in this month's issue of Devolution Z: The Horror Magazine. Check it out!

Also, outstanding hubby/writing partner Jeffrey J. Mariotte and I will be giving a talk to the Tucson chapter of the Arizona Mystery Writers group next Saturday (the 10th), so if you're in the area, you should stop by. We'll be talking about - what else? - serial killers. Fun stuff!

Everything Else

Just had my second epidural injection for my back (this year), which continues to pain me. Hopefully this and a switch to a new medicine for nerve pain will help keep me out from under the surgeon's knife (seeing how successful that was the first time around *rolleyes*). FX!
