First off, Westercon was a blast and husband/writing partner Jeffrey J. Mariotte and I were so glad to be able to see old friends and meet some new readers. I even got to meet GOH Connie Willis, who is just as funny and charming a lady as everyone says (maybe more so). If you were able to stop by, we were happy to see you. If not - sorry to have missed you, and we hope to catch you at the next one!

We also attended MegaMania!! 2017 down at the Pima College campus in Tucson on July 15, doing a panel on horror writing along with Amy Lukavics. It was one of the best-attended panels we've ever had at the event, and a lot of fun, too!

Then we got cover art for our next tie-in novel, Mafia III:Plain of Jars, which comes out in October.

Our short story, "The Lottons Show," will also be available in the first Cutting Block Single Slices anthology coming from Farolight Publishing in August.

In the poetry world, I've sold a few things of late - one to Star*Line, two to Scifaikuest, and one to the Starward II anthology. It's been a long time since I've written/submitted any poetry, so it feels good to know I've still got what it takes to write stuff other people connect with.

And that's the most recent news on the writing front. It may be a while before there's another update (I mean, even longer than usual, heh). See below.

Everything Else

As folks who've been following along at home know, I had back surgery for a herniated disk a few years ago and have basically been in pain management ever since. During the past few months, the pain has gotten much worse, to the point where I was referred to a neurosurgeon. After some tests, the surgeon has determined an ALIF procedure should alleviate my symptoms, so I'm scheduled for that in mid-August and will be out of commission for a while after that. Here's hoping it does the trick and I can finally be out of pain after all these years! FX!
