The lovely Erin Hartshorn posted a review of Legacy of Wolves on her new website. Go check it out!
Picked up fellow Eberron author/IAMTW member Paul Crilley's new YA book Rise of the Darklings today. Congrats on the hardcover, Paul! Can't wait to read it!
Also finished up Gini Koch's SF-rom-com Touched by an Alien last night. In all honesty, this is not the sort of book I normally like, and the cover copy left me somewhat dubious, but it was an engrossing read and I had trouble putting it down. It was fast-paced, action-packed, sexy, funny and FAR smarter than a SF-rom-com has any right to be. Two thumbs up from me!
Everything Else
Drum roll...
WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all SO much! With your help -- voting, praying and spreading the word -- Arms Wide Open was able to stay in 2nd place and win one of the $250K grants! This funding is SO important to my Max and all the other kids fighting neuroblastoma -- there really are no words to express my deep gratitude and appreciation for each and every one of you who helped make this miracle happen.
Instead, I'd like to pass on a letter from Bill Sherwood, the VP of Arms Wide Open:
"To the all the NB families-
Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation could not have done it with out all of you, your friends, family, and every ounce of support that we received over the last month. We are an all volunteer organization and over this last month all of you have become part of AWOCCF. It's truly amazing what can be done when people can come together. I agree with Jeff that while this is a victory we are still at war. Why we do what we do - my son starts an experimental vaccine next week which has not been proven and we don't know the long term side effects, yet we have no choice but to try it because we all know how aggressive this monster is. This is not acceptable to us. We need proven less toxic therapies until the cure can be found.
Dena and I envision a day when these kids will have more than a unproven clinical trial to try and keep them alive, we want to help fund the cure. With awareness comes funds. Jeff is right when he says let's claw with fundraisers and awareness and not stop. We all know how hard it is to have kids in treatment and try to fund raise, so take advantage of every chance you can. For me seeing Billy Jr and Super Eyan doing extremely painful 3F8 antibodies treatments together formed an unspoken bond to this family and all of these kids, Angels, Warriors, NED, that taught me how to live [and] will not be forgotten as long as AWOCCF is around. Arms Wide Open is also still supporting the other PEPSI Refresh Cancer Foundations trying to win grants so don't give up.
With Faith, Love and NB

I couldn't have said it any better than that.
