Writing

So, a few weeks ago, I mentioned that I'd sent out some writing samples and they'd netted me some work, but I didn't go into details. Well, now I have the signed contract in hand, I can announce that I'm going to be working with Larry Segriff and Story Portals, Inc. on a new property he's created. I'm not sure I can say much more than that at this point, besides that my first foray into the universe will be a short story and that I think it's going to be a ton of fun to write. More details as I can share them! Watch for them -- this property has the potential to be something really special, and you're going to want to follow it from its inception. Trust me.

Everything Else

As those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook know, I survived a very scary encounter with a group of ferocious volunteer-eating first graders yesterday.

(What, you didn't know? Because you're not following me or haven't friended me? Well, that's okay -- we all do silly things we later come to regret. Go follow/friend me right now, so you don't miss anything else. Go ahead. I'll wait.)

Anyway, I was teaching a lesson from the Junior Achievement program. When I mentioned that I used to work as an engineer, the kids thought I drove trains. I had to explain that, no, I wasn't that kind of engineer, but rather the kind that designs and builds things, like, say, dams. They still weren't really getting it until one of the kids volunteered, "Oh, you're like a beaver!" Uh, yeah. Exactly.

The writer's life is just so darn glamorous, isn't it? Heh.
