Back from TusCon with all the dirt! Well, okay, not really -- more like with all the con crud on top of the cold I already had, but that doesn't make for quite as eye-catching an opener, does it? Heh.

Got to hang with Gini Koch and her "mom," Mary, along with #1 Fan Nicole (who really DOES deserve that title, trust me!) and Jeffrey Twohig, who annoyingly doesn't have much of a web presence, but who is very funny and whom Gini has claimed as her long lost twin brother, if THAT tells you anything, heh.

Also got to sit on a panel on paranormal romances and kinky sex with, among others, both the delightful Jeff Mariotte and Guest of Honor Shannon Butcher. That was fun, though I didn't have too much to add to the discussion, not having written much in the way of paranormal romances (yet). But it didn't really matter, since the panel got off track (as they so often do) and we ultimately wound up talking about book piracy (Jeff and I tried to get it back on track by mentioning that pirates like the kinky stuff, but time was up by that point, alas). Was also on a panel with Michelle M. Welch and Dennis McKiernan (whose website is not being cooperative, so I can't link to it) about buddy stories, where we got to discuss everything from Hank Williams to Tolkien to Law & Order: CI & SVU. Fun stuff. I did one other panel on alternative paths to publishing where I pretty much spouted the Gospel according to Stackpole, since I had no experience of my own to offer (I'll be expecting that check in the mail, BTW, Mike). Heh.

Other highlights included hanging at the MythosCon party (where I got to chat with Lee Whiteside's lovely other half, Nadine), cupcake talk with Mysterious Galaxy's Maryelizabeth Hart, sitting in on a fun reading by David Lee Summers, and getting to meet (briefly) Yvonne Navarro's dogs, Ghost and Goblin.

All in all, it was a fun time (let's see how many times can I use that word in one blog post, heh). Hopefully I'll get to do it all again next year (only with the new Eberron book to promote)!

Everything Else

The boys survived the 36 hours without me remarkably intact. The dishes even got done! And I hear my Huskers won. Good weekend all around, I'd say. Heh.

Dangit! Why you call me not? Why did I not realize that TusCon was in... duh... Tucson? Why have classes killed my brain? WHY!?!?!?!

I honestly wasn't sure til the morning of if I was even going to feel well enough to go, then when I got down there, I realized I didn't have your number programmed into my phone. D'oh! Next time, though, for sure!
