In a continuation of an impressive 5-year streak, I once again failed to win a Rhysling Award. Congrats, though, to all who did:
Short Poem
1st place -- To Theia by Ann K. Schwader
2nd place -- The Changeling Always Wins by Nicole Kornher-Stace
3rd place -- Nine Views of the Oracle by Rachel Manija Brown
Long Poem
1st place -- In the Astronaut Asylum by Kendall Evans and Samantha Henderson
2nd place -- Rattlebox III by Mike Allen, Kendall Evans, and David C. Kopaska-Merkel
3rd place -- The First Story by Lana Hechtman Ayers
Grand Master
Jane Yolen
Everything Else
Max's 6th tooth came in some time within the last two weeks. He's not as cooperative about letting me look in his mouth anymore, so I'm judging by how much tooth I saw when I did get a peek the other day. Still behind, but that's totally expected with the chemo.
Reconnected with one of my oldest friends on Facebook this weekend and have been having a lot of fun reminiscing with her about Smurfs and locking boys in closets. I kind of get a little homesick, though, when I see how many of my old friends still live in Montana (or have moved back there). But I imagine it's the same sort of nostalgia that makes you remember old 80's movies fondly until you see them again 20 years later and think, "WTH? I actually liked this? Lame!" Heh.
