REMINDER: My BIG BOOK GIVEAWAY ends tonight at midnight! Don't miss out on your chance at one of the awesome prizes!

Okay. I can sum up my Phoenix ComiCon experience in three words. Best. Con. EVER.

I had SO much fun hanging out with old friends, meeting new ones, talking to fans and HUNDREDS of aspiring writers and selling a metric ton of books. I don't even know where to start, it was all so awesome.

My Friday panel, "Being a Newbie Writer," w/Gini Koch, Jordan Summers and Kevin Hearne was very well-attended (at least 100 people, probably a lot more) and a ton of fun (though I didn't get a picture of that one). Got a chance to pitch my paranormal profiler series to Gini's agent, and she was excited by it, so now I've got to find time to get that one written, too. (Not complaining, though, trust me! Heh.) Finished up the evening with dinner w/Gini, her agent, Cherie, David, and some guy who has won a few awards you've probably never heard of, like the Nebula, the Hugo and the Campbell. What was his name again? Oh, that's right...Robert J. Sawyer. Seriously, though, in addition to being incredibly talented, he's just about the sweetest and most charming guy you will ever meet, and it was a great honor and thrill to sit across the table from him and talk shop.

Saturday I had my tie-in panel with the uber-talented, super-nice and envy-makingly prolific Jeff Mariotte, Yvonne Navarro, and Mike Stackpole. An honor to be counted among their number, as always.

Then dinner with Gini, her agent, the very generous Jordan Summers and the ever-amusing Raul of LepreCon fame at The Arrogant Butcher (which really has to be the best name for a restaurant EVER).

Then Sunday, it was back to another writing panel for beginning writers, this one starring me (of course), Gini, Jordan, and Allyson James. Another great panel that was standing room only - probably 200 people in the room. Great crowd with some great questions.

Also got to meet Aaron Lopresti and will be getting the Wonder Woman sketch that graces his 2010 sketchbook in a bigger, frame-worthy size. SO pretty! Can't wait!

And then I finished off the con with dinner at the Hard Rock.

All I can say is that any con where Robert J. Sawyer buys you dinner and you have one of the top New York literary agents asking for your manuscript post-haste has got to be a highlight of any writer's career. SO blessed to have this job, and even more so to have such great friends.

Everything Else

I'm also blessed to live in a country served by such brave men and women. Thanks to all who have ever worn the uniform, and to their families. We remember you always, but today especially. God bless you, each and every one, and Happy Memorial Day!
