Writing
The WotC Novels Book Club discussion for Skein of Shadows is still going on, so come join the fun! It's okay if you just started the book - all the threads are open for the duration, and I'll be there to answer questions for as long as folks are asking them.
In other news, one of my poems from Popcorn Press's Halloween Haiku anthology has been nominated for the SFPA's Dwarf Stars Award (for poems of ten lines and under). It's an untitled haiku, but the first two words are "Graveside Spell," so we'll call it that for now. Anyway, it's my first time being nominated for this particular award, so that's pretty exciting.
Everything Else
We are part of an organization called Hopekids that "provides ongoing events & activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition." Through them, we have gotten to have family portraits done, seen multiple movies and sporting events, celebrated Max's birthday with tons of other Hopekids, and basically just really been blessed. They have given so much to us and never asked anything in return, and now it's time to give back. We are participating in this year's HopeWalk, and our team is called Max's Marauders. I haven't had a chance to set up our fundraising page yet, but I'll do that this week and post a link. The money goes toward funding fun things for kids with cancer and their families to do, to give them a little light while they're walking a very dark path. It's not a cure for cancer, but in many ways what they do is just as important - giving families battling pediatric cancer the hope to hold on until there IS a cure. So if any of you feel moved to donate or just to share the link, that would be great. Thanks.
