Writing

I made my first fiction sale to Marion Zimmer Bradley. Even before then, I'd devoured her Sword & Sorceress anthologies, dreaming of seeing my name in the TOC. But before that could happen, MZB passed on and the S&S anthologies petered out, with the last being published in 2004. Now the series has been resurrected by Vera Nazarian and Elisabeth Waters, and the deadline for the first new antho in three years is this Friday, the 20th.

Why am I telling you this? Because I have a story for it, of course, one which didn't come to me until Friday (the 13th, but I refuse to take that as a bad omen). Which means I basically have five days to finish, polish and submit this puppy. Which in turn means I probably won't be posting here again until the weekend.

Wish me luck!

Everything Else

I have a list of things my husband and the guys with him are asking for in care packages. In no particular order:

*phone cards
*beef jerky
*power bars (or equivalent)
*pretzels
*puzzle books (sudoku, etc.)
*steak sauce
*drink mixes (Kool-aid, Crystal Light, etc.)
*pouches of ready-to-eat tuna, salmon, etc.
*flavored coffees
*non-dairy creamer
*home-baked goodies (w/out chocolate, as it will just melt all over)
*letters and cards

If anyone is interested in sending anything (my husband shares whatever he gets with all his guys), please drop me an email and we'll get it coordinated. And thank you for your support. :)

Good luck! I also have an idea for this anthology, but am (like you) struggling to find the time to get it done ere Friday. We'll see.

I wanted to submit to this anthology, but alas, I have no time and worse, no idea.

Good luck, Marcy!

Given the current mix of services over there in the sandbox, I hear "GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY" products are NEVER inappropriate. :)

Thank you! I'm making good progress - 3,000 words yesterday, and the hardest part of the story written. Fingers crossed! :)

Thanks, EC! I didn't think I was going to be able to submit anything, as I don't normally write S&S and certainly had nothing appropriate in inventory. I was as surprised as anyone when the story came to me - one WEEK before the deadline.

I guess my Muse thinks I'm an adrenaline junkie, LOL.

You know, when you mentioned PR, I didn't think it'd come complete with a costume. ;)

(And thank you!)

I hear you. As much as would have liked to submit to this anthology, I've got to admit that sword and sorcery just isn't what I want to write these days.

No one's laughing at the pom-poms, dude, but that flippy little skirt is getting a few smirks.
