*submission, Poetry from the Trenches antho, 9/14

Inspired by certain Real Life Events (tm), I wrote a poem for the
Poetry from the Trenches
antho which has, to date, made at least three people cry (in a good way). Hopefully the editor will like it just as much.

In addition, said editor contacted me with a request to hold my 9-11 haiku for consideration for the antho. Considering I posted it here as a freebie, I'm certainly pleased about that! :)

Everything Else

YB has been going around the house singing "Happy Birthday." Considering no one has had a birthday lately, and we never taught him the song, it's a little odd.

Interesting thing #24: When I was in college, I took a class called "Philosophy of Technology." Our entire grade hinged on a term paper to be written at the end of the quarter. I went to the first week of class, when we covered Thoreau, then didn't go again until the day we had to turn in our papers. I wrote mine the night before (20 pages), on the material from the first week, and got the highest grade the professor had ever given out. He even tried to get me to switch majors from Engineering to Philosophy. It still makes me laugh.

Ha! Reminds me of a lot of Art History papers I wrote, though I still went to class because it was a good chance to catch up on sleep during the slide shows.

Yes, but why sleep in class when you can sleep at home? ;)

I couldn't say for sure, but it probably had to do with an attendance policy, or maybe it was closer to my job at the time or I had another class before or after. :)
