It's Official

Revisions, revisions. Not a lot, actually -- the biggest one is changing a fairly significant scene at the end of the book, but for the most part, it's chopping adverbs. I can't complain.
I did take some time off from writing (2 days) to read Stephen King's new book, Cell. I've been really unimpressed with King since Tommyknockers, but this one works. The plot's not that original, really -- it's almost a reprise of The Stand -- but the characters are compelling. It's ultimately the story of a father searching for his son. However, it could easily have fit inside a 20K novella as opposed to a 120K book. But you don't read King if you don't like padding -- Hemingway, he is not. I'd give it a B-.
Everything Else
Well, it's finally official, though we've known for months now. My husband got his orders, and he will be deploying early next year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He will be returning some time in 2008.
(Yes, of course I know more than that, but I'm not going to post it here, so please don't ask -- it's called OPSEC.)
We are very proud of his service to our country and we support him, and all our troops, 110%. If you want to know what he'll be doing over there, go back and watch the video I posted here a month or so ago. He is a Seabee and this is their motto:
With compassion for others
We build, we fight
For peace with freedom
With willing hearts and skillful hands
The difficult we do at once
The impossible takes a bit longer
Yup. That's my hubby. Please pray for him, and all our brave men and women in the military who sacrifice daily so that we don't have to.

Interesting thing #45: I had never had a broken bone (noses aren't bones, heh) until a few years ago, when I broke my pinky toe. Then I broke it again about a year later. In the exact same place. What are the odds?

Hooah!
My hubby hasn't gotten sent over yet, but that's because they generally like to leave at least one brigade at home and he's been fortunate enough to be in that one. But, they are America's rapid response force, so he'll be the first to go anywhere else that we need!
His brigade was part of the group that went to New Orleans last year. His battalion did'nt go, but they were responsible for getting all the vechiles ready and on the road and back again on the other end.
And I thought I was the only conservative Catholic on Mysa's list.
lol, it seems she's surrounding herself with more and more of us. I wonder what that means? ;)
