Writing

Well, actually, this is going to be a reading update. The books I've read this year (that I remember, anyway), in no particular order (and not including any beta-reading I've done):

*Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch
*Taint of the Black Brigade by Paul Crilley
*Queen of Stone by Keith Baker
*Death and Dishonour by various (Warhammer antho)
*Lords of Valour by various (Warhammer antho)
*Witch Hunter by C.L. Werner
*The Annunciation of Francesca Dunn by Janis Hallowell
*Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child
*Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
*Oh. My. Gods. by Tera Lynn Childs

Of the above, only two books were read for pleasure (as opposed to writing-related research) -- Gini's Touched by an Alien and the Jack Reacher book.

I still need to read the last two books in Keith's "Thorn of Breland" series, I need to finish Paul's Rise of the Darklings, and I'd like to pick up Gini's Alien Tango, which comes out in December. Experience shows I probably won't get to them before the ball drops (not to mention any of the other books in my towering TBR pile), but hope springs eternal, right? Heh.

Everything Else

Everyone in the house is sick, except for EB, who had his first Academic Decathlon competition this past weekend. He didn't win any awards, but he had fun, so there you go.

Max had his hearing test this past week, too. As some of you may recall, high frequency hearing loss is one of the many side effects of the chemo he was on. Fortunately, his hearing is perfectly fine. Yaay! Unfortunately, the Audiology Department ordered the test too early, so we're going to have to repeat it during Scan Week. Boo.

Not much else going on, except for a lot of coughing and nose-blowing (oh, yeah, and writing). Not sure I'll be posting again this week, so, if not -- Happy Thanksgiving, Faithful Reader(s)! Hope your day is filled with many blessings, much love and a lot of yummy food!

How'd you like the Jack Reacher book? I haven't read that one but I've read several of them.

It's not the type of book I normally read (nothing against thrillers, I just have so many other things to read, I don't pick them up very often), but this one had a very interesting premise. There's a list of 10 (I think) behaviors that signal a suicide bomber, and Jack sees a woman exhibiting all of them. I picked it up mostly because I wanted to see that list, but it was pretty good. I had one major problem with the book that I can't divulge because it's a spoiler, but I would still recommend it.

Well, I don't know -- I kind of think he'd have more sex if he were a REAL Marty Stu. But I've only read the one book -- perhaps he's a bit more promiscuous in earlier installments?
