A WRITER'S FAVORITE WORDS

You did all see that the first chapter of The Shard Axe has been posted over at the WotC website, didn't you? No? Well, go check it out! I'll wait.
Back? Excited to read the whole thing? Just 6 more weeks! Woot!
Speaking of all things Shard Axe, I sent the outline for the sequel off to my editor yesterday. This one's going to be even more fun than the first one, trust me!
In other writing-related news, these are some of my favorite words to hear from editors (all of which, I must point out, I've heard this week): "LOVE" (all caps), "wonderful," "great job," and "too well done for me to want it changed." The only better words being, of course, "The check is in the mail." Heh.
Finally, some poetry-related news. I could have sworn I posted this year's Rhysling winners, but it seems I did not. Which turns out to be a good thing, since the first and second place winners in the Short Form category were deemed ineligible. So here is the actual list of Rhysling Award winners for 2010:
Short Form
First Place
"Peach-Creamed Honey" by Amal El-Mohtar
Second Place
"Binary Creation Myth" by Karen A. Romanko
Third Place
"Dogstar Men" by C.S.E. Cooney
Long Poem Category
First Place
"The Sea King's Second Bride" by C. S. E. Cooney
Second Place
"Dark Rains Here and There" by Bruce Boston
Third Place
"Wreck-Diving the Starship" by Robert Frazier
Congrats, all!
Everything Else
First day of school (well, it was when I started this post, heh)! Also, I hear the NFL lock out is over. More importantly, the Huskers open their first season as part of the Big Ten on Saturday, Sept 3. Are you ready for some football???? I sure am! GBR!
