Writing

Sold a poem, "Answering the $466 Million Question," to Star*Line. This one is based on some of these photos of the asteroid Vesta. Science is a rich and often overlooked source of inspiration for speculative poetry, something I'm planning on talking about at the spec poetry panel at CopperCon 31.

Speaking of CopperCon, I have my final schedule (inasmuch as anything in the writing life is ever "final," heh):

*IT WAS A DARK & STORMY NIGHT - Fri 930p-1030p, Avondale I
*ROLL A D6 - Sat 1p-2p, Boardroom
*READING - Sat 3p-330p, Hotel Lobby Alcove
*SIGNING - Sat 330p-430p, Dealer’s Room
*CRIME AND CRIMINALS IN SF/F - Sun 10a-11a, Avondale I
*SPECULATIVE POETRY INTRODUCTION - Sun 1p-2p, Boardroom
*TIE-IN BOOKS FROM A to Z - Sun 3p-4p, Avondale IV
*SPIRITUALITY IN SF/F - Sun 530p-630p, Avondale I

Lots of panels = lots of chances to ask me questions and pick my brain about all things writing, so I do hope you'll stop by if you're in the area. I'm not sure yet who all my fellow panelists will be, but I do know I'll be sharing the stage with such luminaries as Gini Koch, Jeff Mariotte, and David Lee Summers, so don't miss out!

Everything Else

I just agreed to volunteer in Middle Boy's class once a month. Because Max's cancer diagnosis came the weekend right before MB started kindergarten, I haven't had the chance to help out in his classroom as much as I would have liked over the past couple of years, but now my reprieve is over. Time to start training! I wonder if they offer Boot Camp? Heh.
