Been back from PAX for almost 24 hours, so that must mean it's time for the post-con recap - complete with pictures!

THURSDAY

Hubby and I got in Thursday night and had dinner with my former editor, Erin Evans, and her husband, who is fun and witty, even if he doesn't know who Sean Bean is, heh.

FRIDAY

Got to the convention center bright and early, but because the cell towers were "borked" by 70,000 gamers, did not meet up with my lovely Turbine contact, Amber (aka She Who Dispenses Badges, VIP Passes, and Awesome T-shirts), until almost lunch, when it was time to meet with my current editor, Liz Mills, for a quick bite.

Then it was back to the convention center to wander the Exhibit Halls for a bit.

(At the Turbine booth)

Afterward, we went to the DDOcast Happy Hour meetup. I got to meet Sig and Anne Trent, the super-awesome and incredibly kind powerhouse duo behind DDO's longest-running podcast, as well as Shamgar, Phite, and Mrs. Phite.

(In order: Sig, Sig's bird, Anne, Phite, Mrs. Phite, Shamgar, hubby, me)

Phite even asked me to sign his Kindle, LOL.

(Phite's Kindle)

After the DDOcast get-together, we popped back over to the convention center to catch up with Keith Baker, who was kind enough to reschedule his Eberron chat the next day to accommodate my signing at the Turbine booth. Then it was back to the Turbine party at Gameworks, where there was much fun and food (and swag!) to be had. They even plugged my book and signing the next day, so that was cool. Unfortunately, we'd parked in a lot that closed at 11:30 PM, so we had to leave a bit early, and missed seeing Anne and Phite win lifetime subscriptions to DDO - congrats, guys!

SATURDAY

We started out the day with Keith's Eberron breakfast chat, where he was gracious enough to plug The Shard Axe and my signing immediately thereafter.

(Keith Baker, me, and a dozen or so awesome Eberron fans)

Then Sig and Anne gave us a lift back to the convention center so I wouldn't be late. Amber and Jeremiah-not-Trevor got me all set up at my table and I commenced the signing, where I got to chat a little more with some of the Eberron fans who'd been at breakfast and meet some really cool folks, including First-in-Line Cassondra, a little 2-year-old cutie named Seth who carried my book around the convention floor for hours, the lovely Shelly Mazzanoble (not pictured), and DDO Executive Producer Fernando Paiz, who was awesome enough to let me crash his booth (thanks, Fernando!) to promote the book. I even got to sign a copy for Keith, which was pretty cool, considering Eberron was his brainchild.

And you see those cool shirts Jer and Fernando are wearing? They gave me one of those, too. The folks at Turbine rock.

After lunch, I was able to do a quick interview with Sig for DDOcast (which I will of course link to when it is posted). I don't have any pictures of the interview (they're still on hubby's phone), but Ann took some and posted them here. (Thanks, Anne!)

One of the really fun things at PAX is a games library where you can check out various games and try them. Hubby and I spent some time playing Poo, Family Fluxx and Blokus. At some point while we were playing, hubby realized he'd lost his wallet, which kind of put a damper on things. Luckily, the folks at PAX are completely AWESOME, and someone not only found the wallet, but turned it in w/out helping themselves to anything inside it. To that anonymous Good Samaritan - THANK YOU!!!! If you happen to be reading this and can ID the wallet, email me and I'd be happy to send you some free stuff.

Then it was dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (I had a gift card) and back to our hotel out in the wilds of Bellevue to crash a little early.

SUNDAY

Not having anything scheduled for the morning, hubby and I did a little sightseeing and hit Pike's Place Market to buy gifts for the kidlets, watch the fish throwers, and nibble on knish. Then we headed back up to the convention center to get in line for Keith's panel (w/Mike Mearls and Mike Selinker) on D&D through the Ages. Then it was one last circuit around the Exhibit Halls, Mass at St. James Cathedral and back to the hotel for room service and bed.

MONDAY

Longest airport security line ever, but we made our flight in the nick of time. I even got some writing done on the plane, though it was hard with the turbulence. Then we descended into the 116-degree heat. Ah, home, hellishly-hot home! Heh.

And I leave on Friday to do it all over again at CopperCon! Wee!

Overall, I had a great time, and I want to extend a special thanks to the folks at WotC and Turbine who helped make it all happen, especially Amber and Shelly - you ladies are the best!

Everything Else

Yeah...I got nothin' left. Heh.

Wow. Looks like you had a fun time, Marce. Maybe I'll be able to actually go to a con one of these days.

And Keith looks so different now. I met him at a Boulder signing back when Eberron first launched. He had glasses, a scruff beard, and less weight. :) He looks good.

That's why he wears the hat - makes him easily recognizable. ;)

I did have a great time, but it's rare for me to make it to a con on your side of the Mississippi. Might possibly do GenCon or PAX East, depending on when the next book is released, but other that that, I prefer to stay w/in driving distance. I'm cheap that way, heh.
