Writing

So this past weekend I was at Phoenix ComiCon with 40,000 or so of my closest friends (we got REALLY close when the convention center was evacuated, trust me). I had a wonderful time with some of my favorite people, including Jeff Mariotte and Gini Koch. I even did an interview about it already over at I Smell Sheep. (I'll wait while you go check it out and enter to win a copy of one of my books.)

Back? Okay.

In addition to doing a ton of really fun panels with Jeff and Gini and Peter David and Timothy Zahn and Mike Stackpole, I also got to see a lot of old fans from years past and meet some new ones, and catch up with fellow authors I don't see nearly often enough, like Jordan Summers, David Lee Summers (no relation), Janni Lee Simner, and Joe Nassise. I sold some books (mine and other people's, cuz that's how I roll), stayed in the worst expensive hotel I've ever been in, had lunch with Wil Wheaton (sorta), won some cool Frazetta swag in the Euphemism Game, potentially lined up some new tie-in work, and took photos of creepy Last Supper dolls with Garrett Wang (Ensign Harry Kim from Voyager, for those not in the Star Trek know). Pictures or it didn't happen, so:

In short, I had a great time as always, I already miss all the people I don't get to spend enough time with, and I can't wait until next year!

Also, it looks as if the Neverland's Library antho is going to finish off with about 60% of its fundraising goal, but since it was a flexible funding campaign, it's still a go. So look for "A Soul in the Hand," the first of hopefully many collaborations between me and the Talented Mr. Mariotte, at the end of this year! Thanks to all of you who contributed - you're going to love the antho, and all the rewards!

Everything Else

This week saw me graduating from the local Citizens Police Academy (pictures on FB) and this weekend is Middle Boy's First Communion/Confirmation and party (which will hopefully help explain why the above wrap-up is so late; mea culpa). Then next week I'm heading up to see my dad for what will probably be the last time. *supersadface* And then after that it'll be head down in OMG-my-deadline's-WHEN? mode for a bit, so it may be quiet around here. If you need more regular updates on my life (and, really, who doesn't?), be sure and follow me on FB and Twitter. In the meantime, be good, and if you can't be good, at least don't get caught.

Thanks

Thanks for posting! Except for those dolls...too creepy. You gave the entire internet nightmares.

They're much creepier in person, Jeff. I'll take you next year so you can have the full experience. ;)

Yay for some quality time -- requesting emergency nickel assistance counts, right? -- at PCC!

Definitely! As does hanging out in the shade during evacuations! ;)
