Just a few things here, since, as previously noted, I've got a deadline rapidly approaching.
First, the 2013 Scribe Award winners were announced at SDCC this past Friday. Alas, my quest to be the Susan Lucci of the writing world continues apace, but congrats to the winners!
Second, if you're local(ish), I'll be down in Tucson this coming weekend with my writing partner Jeff Mariotte at MangaMania, talking about writing novels based on comic books and other cool stuff. It's an event primarily for teens, but everyone is welcome, so stop by and say hi if you're in the area - we'd love to see you!
Third and lastly, speaking of the Esteemed Mr. Mariotte, you should all hop over to his blog and congratulate him on his Inkpot Award, which the kind folks at SDCC bestowed on him this past weekend for all of his outstanding work in the genre and for, you know, just generally being awesome.
Everything Else
Long-time readers will perhaps recall this post I made back in November of 2006. For those of you who weren't around then (or who may have forgotten), my husband is a Navy Reservist (in particular, a Seabee). He was deployed to Iraq back in 2007, and it looks like he's won the all-volunteer-military lottery a second time around. He'll be leaving this fall for an all-expense-paid trip to the war zone of his choice (that's a joke) (the choice part, not the war zone part), and he'll be gone for at least a year. I can't really say where or when any more specifically than that right now (OPSEC), but I will say it could be worse. Still, it's going to be hard, on the younger boys especially, so if you've got any spare prayers lying around, they (and he) could probably use them. Thanks!
