PHXCC RECAP (W/LOTS OF PICS)

Back from PHXCC - sore and tired, but I had a good time and got to meet some great people, see some old friends, sell some books, and even do a little bit of location scouting for my profiler series.
I shared a table with my writing partner, Jeff Mariotte, where we were promoting our novella from the Neverland's Library anthology, "A Soul in the Hand," as well as other things, like my novels based on Neil Gaiman's Lady Justice comics.
Here we are with one of the original editors of the NL antho, Rebecca Lovatt (who brought us yummy chocolate from New Zealand and table-sat for us while we were at panels, lunch, etc).

Rebecca also introduced me to several of her writer friends who I'd never met before, including Patrick Rothfuss:

I also got to meet a lot of other cool people, like Christopher Golden and Amber Benson, who were on a funny and informative collaboration panel with Jeff.

Speaking of panels, the one Jeff and I did on Crime Writing for Non-Crime Writers was packed - much bigger turnout than we expected, considering we were scheduled opposite some other really cool panels. We got a lot of compliments from the audience on that one.

I also did a writing critique session with Tom Leveen, who is hilarious and fun even when we're not both punchy from lack of sleep. That one went really well, too, and I had a few people track me down at the table afterward to thank me for my advice, which is always nice. (Sorry, no pics.)
I also got a nice picture with the lovely Melanie Rawn, whose character Andry (in her Sunrunner novels) I loved so much, I named one of the main characters in Legacy of Wolves after him (though I changed the spelling to Andri).

Some other highlights included meeting aspiring writers from Jeff's neck of the woods, Alex and Delman (sp? sorry!), who when they found out we'd had to pay $4 for a bottle of water the first night, brought us bundles of water every day thereafter; the several readers who tracked me down because they'd bought my books last year and loved them so much they wanted more; folks from past writing critique sessions who tracked me down to tell me how their writing has progressed; dinner at St. Francis; bacon-covered maple donuts from Rainbow; and, of course, seeing folks like Gini Koch, Jordan Summers, Terry L. Smith, Tina Marie Williams, Sharon Skinner, Wes Oches & Von Navarro, David Lee Summers, Janni Simner, James A. Owen, Jamie Wyman, Joe Nassise, Mark Rude, Colette Vernon Black, Henry, Joseph, Edward, Linda, Steve, Hal & Dee, Adrian & Lisa, Craig & Stephanie, Andrea & Duncan, Dee, Dori, and a ton more I know I'm forgetting. It was great seeing you all!
All in all, it was a great experience (as always), and I'm grateful to have been asked to be a guest this year, and hope to be asked back again in the future. PHXCC rocks!
Everything Else
Yeah, I got nothin'. Heh.
