Writing

First and foremost, I'm pleased to announce that if Lady Justice Book 2 is not winging its way off to my editor as you read this, it will be shortly. Pretty happy with how it turned out, and my beta readers all seemed to enjoy it (and are clamoring for Book 3 already, heh), so I hope you all will, too. (Well, whenever you get to read it - still no word on a pub date, alas.)

Also, due to being busy making sure the above happened, I didn't get my CopperCon recap posted in a timely fashion, but here it is now, complete with pictures.

First off, CopperCon/FANtasm returned to the Hilton Garden Inn in Avondale this year, which is an absolutely lovely place where they treat con-goers really well, so I was very happy about that.

The first and only panel I attended that I wasn't actually on (because deadline) was "The Friday Night Death Panel" with my BFF Gini Koch and my writing partner Jeff Mariotte. They talked about why and when you kill off characters (and how fun it can be, heh).

Immediately afterward was my panel with Gini and T.L. Smith, on plot and pacing.

Then we attended Meet the Pros, where intelligent cats, mind control, and telling folks where you got the idea for your book were the orders of the day. Got a shot with me, Jeff, and Mike Stackpole. We had dinner afterward and also did a tie-in panel together the next day, but this is the only picture I got of us.

The next day Jeff and I had a joint signing where we got to sign the first copy of Neverland's Library for the lovely Duncan and Andrea.

Then I had a panel on...I don't even remember what, since it turned into the Gini vs. Mike Smackdown, despite moderator Edward Pulley's best efforts. Lots of enthusiastic audience participation in this one, whatever the topic was.

And then it was Sunday and time to pack up and go do some location scouting for yet another project I have in the works with my uber-talented writing partner (who was also kind enough to do all the driving), but I got to drop by the lovely Sharon Skinner's signing before I left.

It was great seeing everyone, as always, even the folks I didn't get pictures of. Thanks to the con for having me and to DR Books for selling my stuff. Hope to do it all again next year!

Happy Labor Day!

In addition to being Labor Day, September 1st also kicks off National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. If you've read this blog for more than a week, you know this cause is as near and dear to my heart as my youngest son, Max, who has neuroblastoma. So, in honor of him and all the angels and warriors:
