So, I got an email from my editor at Wizards today. Apparently they're on Twitter (@WotC_Novels) and would like for their authors to be, too, so they can get the word out to fans about upcoming projects, etc. So, it looks like I'll be getting a Twitter account and will begin Tweeting. Because my life is just too exciting for LJ to do it justice, heh.

More details in a day or two.

Everything Else

We celebrated Max's first birthday this weekend. We had about 70 people in attendance, half of which were kids. When everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Max, it was like a church choir. Their voices rang through the house, loud and with feeling. It brought tears to my eyes. Wish I'd thought to bring the video camera out beforehand, heh.

Anyway, as part of the festivities, we had to find a Max-safe cake recipe. I finally found one for applesauce muffins using quinoa flour and bananas as an egg substitute. Unfortunately, quinoa flour is pretty much available online only, so we were up grinding the stuff by hand until the wee hours. But we finally got enough flour to make 6 muffins, and they turned out pretty good.

All seemed well, and I claimed a mighty victory over the dreaded allergies.

Max was a little constipated the following day, but I chose to believe it was not allergy-related. But yesterday, with the appearance of the fire-engine red, super-sore diaper rash, right on schedule, I knew I could deny it no longer. The evil allergies had defeated me, yet again.

There were only two things in the recipe Max could have been reacting to -- sugar and safflower oil. After a little more research, I discovered what some of you probably already know. Namely, that cane sugar is a grain. D'oh.

My kid is allergic to sugar. Come on.

Ah, well, at least I have a year to come up with a new recipe. Sigh.
