Writing

Got my short story off to Larry Segriff over at Story Portals just under the wire. It was a little on the long side, so it may come back for some revisions, but overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Now the mad rush to finish up The Shard Axe begins!

A lot of my author friends are doing "Writing Year in Review" posts. I don't really have a lot to report in that area. I sold three short stories and a handful of poems this year, but 2010 has mostly been about my new DDO tie-in (see above) and networking, networking, networking. I did three cons and one writer's conference this year, and I'm already scheduled for at least two more in 2011. I've met some great new writers and fans and reconnected with others. So, again, overall I'm pretty happy with how 2010 went writing-wise, and I hope for an even better 2011.

Everything Else

In my personal life, 2010 revolved largely around coping with Max's cancer. 2011 looks to be the same in that regard, but also different, as we will no longer be going to the clinic or doing scans as often. That's a good news/bad news sort of thing. The good news part includes fewer medical bills, fewer trips to PCH, fewer pokes and less radiation exposure for Max. The bad news part includes the worry that, if Max's disease starts to progress, it will take us longer to discover it. But for now he's stable and otherwise healthy, and we will do our best to enjoy that and not live in fear.

We had a lot of medical issues with YB, as well, culminating in some intensive immunotherapy. He's now on maintenance shots and is doing much better in terms of his allergies/asthma, so we'll consider that one a win, too.

And, while we're still waiting to hear back on our loan modification, we still have a roof over our heads, the hubby is still employed, and I still get to spend my time doing what I love -- writing. 2010 was pretty good to us, all things considered, and I'm hoping 2011 will be, as well.

I hope the same for all of you. Here's to a happy, prosperous new year for us all!
