First post of the new year! A roundup of things, both Marcy-related and not.
First, I hope to have something exciting to announce next week (maybe even sooner), so check back early and often!
Also, just a reminder, nominations for the 2011 Rhysling Award are officially open. You must be an SFPA member to nominate. As mentioned previously, I do have some Rhysling-eligible work this year, so if you'd like to see it, drop me a line or leave a note in the comments.
And some things some of my friends are up to, just cuz they're cool and I lurv them, and I think you will, too:
*Jonathan Moeller has just started up another of his famous live-action "Choose Your Own Adventure" games. This one is "Ghost Ascension" and promises to be a lot of fun, so come join us!
*Jaime Lee Moyer wrote today's featured story at DSF, "A Matter of Time." Go check it out!
*Gini Koch (writing as Anita Ensal) has a story in the just-released Boondocks Fantasy, as do several of my fellow IAMTW authors. So, you know, check this one out, too.
*New friend Laura Bickle/Alayna Williams sent me copies of her books Embers and Dark Oracle. And we all know the quickest way to my heart is through free books, heh.
Everything Else
Thought I'd weigh in on the "Ten Things I've Done/Experienced That You Probably Haven't" meme, just for fun (though long-time readers will recognize some of these from the "100...no, 50 Interesting Things About Me" days). In no particular order, I have:
1) Gotten engaged in Venice's Giardinett Reali during the worst rainfall that city had experienced in 40 years.
2) Eaten haggis in Scotland while on a castle-hopping honeymoon.
3) Sat in the cockpit of an F-14 TomCat.
4) Analyzed a simulated lunar soil for NASA.
5) Hung out on the set of the short-lived Space: Above & Beyond eating chips and salsa with the cast.
6) Babysat Boomer's daughter for a few hours at a SF convention.
7) Lived in the middle of one of the nation's largest Superfund sites.
8) Had my appendectomy performed by a veterinarian.
9) Performed as a mime (in full make-up) in one of the poorest cities in Mexico as part of a youth missions trip.
10) Been accepted to MIT and then gone to state college instead (hey, the meme didn't say "Ten SMART Things I've Done," heh).
