So, today is Super Bowl Sunday. Not being a huge NFL fan, I don't really have a dog in this race. However, not rooting for a team in the Super Bowl is like not voting in a Presidential election -- you can do it, but people will ridicule you for it.
Personally, I am a big fan of Troy Polamalu's hair (plus he's a USC alum), so I might be tempted to lean toward the Steelers. Professionally, however, I am obligated to root for the Packers.
Why? Do I have some sort of contract with them? Is it some sort of Wizards of the Coast requirement, an homage to the Lake Geneva days with TSR? No, nothing like that.
You see, the Packers' colors are green and yellow. Those also happen to be the colors of House Deneith, Eberron's answer to the Marines, the Navy, and the Army, all rolled in to one (sorry Air Force guys -- you're in House Lyrandar).
Since the main character of The Shard Axe is a member of this illustrious House, it's only logical that I, said character's creator, would also support the ole Green and Yellow. So, in honor of my novel and my character, here's a big authorial "Go Pack! Beat the Steelers!" Heh.
(What? There are dumber reasons to support a team, trust me!)
