My editor let me know my ms arrived safely, but he won't be able to get to it for a bit, so I actually have some free time before I have to start in on the revisions. Free time -- what a novel (no pun intended) concept! I don't know what to do with myself! I feel like I'm in book mode now, and so would like to work on something long-term, but then I don't want to have to stop in the middle of a new book to do revisions for LoW. Decisions, decisions! In the meantime, though, I'm finally getting to watch my Firefly DVDs (good stuff -- I loved BtVS and can't wait to see what Joss does with Wonder Woman) and catching up on my reading (currently: In the Claws of the Tiger by James Wyatt)

Everything Else

YB has been running a 103ish temp since yesterday in the wee hours (no other symptoms). At least, he waited til the book was turned in to get sick, poor guy. He may be on the upswing, though -- he's actually eating a little today, which is a good sign.

EB had a half-day at school today, which he forgot to tell me about. Since I pick him up from school, that's a problem. Apparently, he tried to call from school, but I was laying down with YB, so didn't hear the phone. When EB didn't get an answer, he finally decided to walk home. 2+ miles in 100+ degree weather. He got lost. I get a phone call about an hour later from some lady on the other side of our development telling me my son is at her house, crying and sunburned, and could I please come pick him up? After wandering through various neighborhoods in our development trying to find ours, he finally went up and knocked on this lady's door to see if he could use her phone. A mom herself, she ushered him in, offered him something to drink (which he refused until I told him it was okay), and called me, then sat and talked with him to calm him down until I arrived. I'm very grateful to her, and thankful that EB's guardian angel was watching out for him, as we all know there are a lot of weirdos in the world, and (as I was just telling my friend, Mon), they live in someone's neighborhood -- just not this lady's, thank goodness.

I will be SO glad when hubby gets home.

Interesting thing #21: I got engaged in Italy (Venice) and honeymooned in Scotland. Aside from an ill-advised trip to Mexico when I was 16, those are the only times I've ever been out of the country.

Oh man. Reading about EB just kind of made my heart stop, in that over-protective Mom kind of way. I'm so glad he knocked on the right door and found the right person to help him.

I know. And he was so apologetic, saying he should have just stayed at the school, thanking me for coming right away...it just about broke my heart. He's been sort of hinting about a cell phone for awhile now, and I think he just convinced me that he needs one.
