Cleaning out a little back inventory. Heh.

Everything Else

Back to GenCon.

Friday morning, Jeff, John and I met up with Josh Wentz and his lovely lady friend, Emily "Bonqueefa" Martin. There may or may not have been breakfast involved. Then it was time for the first Eberron meet & greet over at the WotC booth, where I met some of the wonderful WotC team, including Jodi Medlock and Cortney Marabetta (editor of the revamped Ravenloft line). Keith Baker and James Wyatt were there to sign books, as was Tim Waggoner, who is just about one of the nicest guys ever.

So nice, in fact, that we stayed chatting at the booth well past our allotted hour, and I might well have missed the Young Dragons lunch if it weren't for Jeff. But he's a persistent bugger, and finally got me out of the Exhibit Hall and down to the restaurant with Brother John, Jeremy, Josh and Emily. There, we met up with Erik, Jaleigh (and her husband, Tim), Ed, Lara, Harley, and the ultimate MOPer, Kameron Franklin. Kameron has posted a short video of the occasion on his MySpace profile (you may have to be registered to view it - sorry).

Then it was time for another signing with Keith and Tim, where Paul Genesse became the first non-relative, non-friend to buy my book and have me sign it. That was a pretty cool moment. Afterwards, Jeff introduced me to fellow Inquisitives author, Ed Bolme, dressed in full riot gear to promote some new "24" game (I think; maybe he just likes to dress up that way, heh).

And then it was off to the "Secrets of Eberron" seminar, otherwise known as the "James Wyatt and Keith Baker Comedy Hour." I really hope someone got that up on YouTube - it was priceless.

After that, we (Jeff, John, Jeremy, Josh, Emily and myself) went to dinner and then John, Jeremy and Josh played guitars in the park while Jeff worked on his revisions and I went to check out the local Catholic Church, St. John's.

Then it was time for the ENnies, where Keith Baker presented the award for Best Setting in a ten-gallon cowboy hat and Goodman Games, sadly, did not bring home the gold. Ah, well, there's always next year.

And then it was off to bed to rest up for Saturday. Which I'll post about tomorrow. Heh.

It was great meeting you at Gen Con! Thanks for chatting with me at your signing. Congrats again on your Eberron novel. I'm really looking forward to reading it. And thanks for the link to my website. I have a cool picture of you at your signing if you'd like me to send it along. Just email me at pgenesse(at)msn(dot)com and I'll send it to you.

Best wishes from a devoted fan.

You've got a really good memory, Marcy. I couldn't recap all that if I tried. Sure, I've got good, vivid memories of all of this, but to be able to assemble it all in the correct order with the correct number of people....nicely reconstructed. :)

Nah. It's not memory, it's planning. I wrote a brief recap of the day's events every night before I went to bed so I'd be sure to remember everyone I met (and I still managed to forget some things and people, I'm sure). Heh.
