The pantoum was beyond me; I went with a villanelle. In case anyone was wondering. Heh.

Everything Else

Okay, so where was I? Oh, yes. Saturday.

I had tickets for Killer Breakfast, but it was at the same time as Keith's seminar on the planes of Eberron, so I opted to go to that instead, as this was, technically, supposed to be a business trip. Afterwards I spent a few hours in the Exhibit Hall in a futile search for plush Pokemon for YB. I did find a Thomas the Tank Engine shirt for him, so it wasn't a complete bust. In my wanderings, I picked up Jaleigh's The Howling Delve and had her sign it. I also picked up James' The Storm Dragon for him to sign later (that cover art is not correct, BTW).

I had hoped to meet with the wife of one of the guys my DH is stationed with over in Iraq, but that fell through. So I had lunch with Jeff & Co. at the Chew N Poo. Then it was time for the second Eberron meet & greet. I had a great time chatting with James, Keith, Tim, Matt and Ed. I also met Ari Marmell and may have been introduced to C.A. Suleiman (or he might have been too busy talking to Jeff and Ari - I can't really recall).

Then Keith hosted an informal Eberron talk in the lobby of the Hyatt. Quite a few people showed up, and asked some good questions. Keith graciously allowed me to plug my book and to expound a bit on shifters and the Purge as well as on the Church of the Silver Flame.

Afterwards, Jeff and I met up with Brother John and Josh, who treated us to the world premier of their breakthrough single, "We Are The 'Forged." Then it was off to dinner at Buca di Beppo and some evening picture-taking at Monument Circle. While I was there, I noticed a boy and his father on the steps. As the boy (probably around 9 or 10) ran up the steps, his father did a pretty decent approximation of the theme to Rocky. It was pretty cute. Then I cut through the grass around the Indiana Statehouse on the way back to my hotel, which turned out to be a huge mistake, as I was devoured by man-eating mosquitoes. Then, of course, I spent the night scratching in my sleep and woke up with bloody ankles. I'll refrain from posting a picture out of respect for those of you with weak stomachs. Heh.

Then it was Sunday and time to check out. Jeff, Brother John and I shared one last meal together, then they dropped me off at the airport, and it was time to fly home and start planning next year's trip.

And that, dear readers, was Marcy's GenCon 2007 experience. Here are a few pictures you might enjoy:

(Heh. You didn't honestly think I'd post pictures of myself, did you?)

And so you had to post a picture of the freaky, crosswalk-loitering, I-think-I'm-sexy glowing-sign lady. Freaky.

Actually, Marcy, I think it's entitled (for syllabic reasons), "We Are the 'Forged."

Thanks for the recount again. And I'm VERY glad to hear you say "next year."

Fixed the title. If the recording turned out decent, you should send me a copy - that was TOO funny! :)
