I've Fallen And I Can't Get Up

*Submission, Lone Star Stories, 9/8
*Rejection, Nossa Morte, 9/7 (RT: 3 weeks)
Rejection always sucks, but this editor took the time to point out why the story didn't work for her, and she hit the nail on the head with her comments. Now I know how to fix it, so I'll do a bit of rewriting and start sending the new improved version off ASAP.
Everything Else
You know college football season has started, right? My Huskers are 2-0 and ranked #16. Hubby's Trojans are 1-0 and ranked #1. And they play each other next Saturday. Much fun in Marcyville. Heh.
Also, the evil Jeff LaSala got me to try Lord of the Rings Online. I can feel its addictive pull, despite some serious lag during combat. I managed to resist all the other MMORPGs, but how can I say no to Tolkien?

Date: 2007-09-10 02:35 pm (UTC)My book would've been finished now if not for two+ years of playing Star Wars Galaxies. And that game wasn't nearly as engaging as World of Warcraft (I played the ten day demo. Loved it, but knew what it would do to my family and writing life).
I beta tested LotRO a bit, mostly during the stress test. It was very fun. But again, time sink...
It is fun to play virtual tourist, though. I spent hours running all over the Star Wars universe (back before they had vehicles or mounts, or even player cities with shuttles, so I literally ran all over...). I got geeky thrills seeing the twin moons rise on Tattoine behind Jabba's Palace, shooting a villian in the cantina, taking quests from Luke, Leia, Han,Jabba, Boba Fett, Vader, the Emperor (with different aligned characters), shooting Gungans for the heck of it, wandering the swaps of Naboo, the foress of Endor, flying all the ships from the movies, hunting Krayt Dragons, shooting Ewoks for the heck of it, etc.
Maybe once they add Mines of Moria and Gondor to LotRO I'll play virtual tourist some more... NO! I won't! Stop!

Date: 2007-09-10 05:13 pm (UTC)And Saetter? They keep adding to the world, so I feel confident we'll get to see some of those things. The areas they HAVE developed are also so massive, it'll be a while before I even NOTICE what they haven't gotten to yet.
