Announcing the long-awaited debut of my story, "Lab Rats," in Space & Time #102. I say "long-awaited," as I sold the story to the magazine back in 2003. My writing has obviously improved quite a bit since then; still, I'm pleased with the story, and hope you'll enjoy it.
Everything Else
As hubby was still sick this weekend, it was Movie Marathon at Marcy's. We watched "The Kingdom," (in no small part because a large portion of the movie was filmed only a few miles from our house), "Stardust," "3:10 to Yuma," and "Kill Bill Vol. 2" (yeah, I know, but I hadn't seen it yet and hubby wanted to watch it). Over the holidays, EB and I also watched "National Treasure: Book of Secrets." So I've now seen more movies in January than I usually see in six months. Here are some brief thoughts.
The Kingdom The dialogue was sharp, the acting good and the story line utterly believable. A
Stardust A fun romp, and better than I expected, given some of the reviews it got. A
3:10 to Yuma Character motivations were hazy, and that spoiled it for me. Also, the pacing was on the slow side. B-
Kill Bill Vol. 2 Worse than the first one. C-
National Treasure:Book of Secrets Fun, but plot holes galore. Then again, it wasn't meant to be an Oscar contender. B
