Busy sorting through my picks for both this year's Rhysling Award and the Mindflights Poetry Contest, for which I am one of three judges. Not writing much poetry myself these days -- my mind is pretty much consumed with the novel, which continues to (knock on wood) flow well. Not writing much in the way of short fiction, either, though I did get an invitation to join a local professional (i.e., SFWA) writer's group, which was nice. Maybe when the book is out the door and I'm not bound and gagged by my NDA, I'll take them up on it.
Everything Else
Had a busy 4th of July here. The ILs were in town, so there was the obligatory BBQ and fireworks, plus some hiking, church-going, and piano-moving thrown in for fun. Yes, we are now the proud caretakers of the family piano, which delights YB to no end. Unfortunately, it needs to be tuned in the worst way, and after about five minutes of YB's otherwise delightful key-pounding, self-mutilation via a screwdriver through the eardrum seems like both a sane and, indeed, a much more pleasant option.
