The events of the past few days have served to effectively curtail my heretofore productive writing output. I'm hoping to get the last of all the various reports filed tomorrow so I:
1) have time to do something else (like write, and maybe take a shower, feed my kids, that sort of thing) and
2) stop feeling so freaking powerless and violated.
Probably won't manage #2, but hope springs eternal and all that.
Everything Else
So, the identity thief hacked my email account and my Paypal account and ordered a computer from Dell. Paypal flagged the transaction almost immediately because I don't keep that kind of money in the account it's linked to (for precisely this reason), and no money was actually taken out of that account. Dell apparently shipped the computer anyway, but AFAIK, it has yet to be delivered, probably because I caught it in time and called DHL's Fraud Department.
That appears to be the extent of the damage thus far, and if I'm extraordinarily blessed, perhaps that's all the further it will go. Thanks to everyone who offered advice, condolences, etc., both here and privately. All in all, it could have been a LOT worse (it could still get worse, of course, but I'm trying to be optimistic).
Oh, yeah, and to top it all off, EB slipped last night and smashed face-first onto the pool deck, breaking his nose and splitting his lip.
So, saying these last few days have been a wee bit stressful would be a gross understatement, one that I would probably respond to by gouging out someone's eyeballs with my toenails. Or a pair of dull, rusty scissors. Whichever would hurt more and have the highest chance of infection. Fair warning.

Date: 2008-07-17 04:48 pm (UTC)But yeah, wow. What a week. Liam fell flat on a hard wood floor last spring (with a concrete foundation), twice, and I'm still not sure how he avoided a broken nose or cracked tooth. Scary. Tell EB there's better ways to gain character than a broken nose. Ok, maybe he wouln't appreciate that... Maybe you don't appreciate that. Don't light lightness as not caring. I'm just glad it wasn't worse.
