*Submission, Heroic Fantasy Quarterly, 9/1
(Well, okay, I really subbed it late on 8/31, but I'd already posted my stats for the month and was too lazy to go back and change them. So sue me.)
Everything Else
Crappy day in Marcyville. We found out that the doctor who told us the genetic tests on the tumor had come back normal and that Max would only need 2 cycles of chemo before he had his scans done was WRONG. Not her fault, really -- I believe Max is the only one currently at our hospital who is on this particular protocol, so only our doctor (who was on vacation in Ghana for two weeks) and his nurses (who we only see when we see our doctor) are really familiar with the requirements, but, still. It's one thing to just not know if Max would wind up needing two or four rounds of chemo, but to be told definitely he'd only need two rounds and then have them come back after said rounds are completed and say, "Oops, sorry, he really needs four"...well, "sucks big pointy rocks" doesn't really begin to describe it, but since this blog is rated PG, it will have to do.
And to top it all off, Max has started losing weight. The LAST thing he needs is a feeding tube.
I am so very, VERY disheartened. :(

Date: 2009-09-05 01:49 am (UTC)Don't let it get you down. This is not a smooth road nor a straight one. It has twists and turns and bumps and potholes the size of your average battleship. As far as journeys go, it's a twisted fun house ride. It's no fun at all.
The important part is coming to the end of the road in one piece, all of you.
Would it help Max at all to supplement his feedings with either formula or cereals? He's just about five months and solids might get a few more calories into him. The only reason I thought of this was to try to avoid the feeding tube.
Hang in there, Marcy. ::hugs::
