*Rejection, Heroic Fantasy Quarterly, 1/14 (RT: 7 weeks)

The editor did ask for me to send him some suitably heroic poetry, if I had any, which I unfortunately don't, as the book is eating my brain. But maybe something will come to me in the wee hours while I'm cat-waxing (like now, heh).

Everything Else

YB had his first race today (yesterday, now, I guess, since it's after midnight). A whopping 1.5 miles around EB's high school. I wasn't sure how he was going to handle it, as the parents were not allowed to run with the kids (one of us, or hubby's cousin, always runs with him at Running Club practice), and there were about 350 runners there, maybe more, ranging from kindergarten through 6th grade. He did have a bit of a meltdown when we had to go to the stands and he had to go onto the field without us. The security guard finally let hubby walk him in, but they only got partway to where YB needed to be when he saw some kids he knew and ran off, completely forgetting about his poor dad, heh.

They staged the race, so the 6th graders went first, then 5th, all the way down to the kindergarteners, who went last (presumably so they wouldn't get run over by all the older kids passing them). YB came in 250th, beating out about a third of the field, including kids who were a lot older than him. Unfortunately, no one told him he could stop running after he crossed the finish line, and he started on another lap before he realized he was done, poor thing.

Anyway, he earned himself a popsicle, which made it all better. And tonight, I'm the proudest momma in all of Marcyville. :)

I love Marcyville!

Hee! I'm picturing him as he keeps on running. The cute kills.
